So, feeling pretty comfortable with Neoquest by now? Well you should, hopefully. 'cuz you're about to enter the second dungeon, which consumes much more of your time, (Or it did for me) than the first one. I've heard of some people skipping the Jungle Ruins completly, but I'm not insane enough to attempt this, and so, I don't really know how to go about doing that. Feel free to try and head west from Neopia City to skip it, though I strictly say not to do so, simply because, well, its kind of dumb.

Ancient Neopia

Once you pick up your level 2 wepons and armor, (hopefully) then you're ready to head down to the Jungle Ruins! How ever did I realize the Jungle Ruins was next? Probably a guide. But if you talk to the man whom gave you the upgraded wand, (NPC in the center of town) then you can more or less be guided there the way the neopets team wanted you to be, well, guided there.

Head south, south, south, south, south.....well, that's pretty much it. You should arrive at a peninsula, just walk along it untill you see the Jungle Ruins!

Jungle Ruins

Ah, what a lovely little place. The enemies in this first room are pretty weak, so if you're pretty weak, level up. Though, if you could beat Xantan, I doubt you would need that.

From the entrance, make your way east into the first (and only) opening and north once there. Take the stairs to plunge into...

Jungle Ruins Basement Level 1

This place is a bit more interesting, no? The enemies are harder, so you may want to train. They'll gradually increase in level thr further east you go in this room. I advise you to level up accordingly, and to collect as many items from the enemies as possible. Why, you ask? Why, for you're next weapon! I only remember one weapon combination, and I advise you use it. It is for the wonderous Nature Wand! The following are items found on this floor that will help in the items creation:

  • claw of jungle beast (jungle beast)
  • tooth of noil (Noil; far far east side of the floor)

And that's it. If, by chance, you need items for the other wands, simply train around here and you'll pick up trinkets in no time. Actually, that's the wisest piece of advise someone can give when collecting items. Train around where the person asks for the item, and soon you shall receive just that.

Anyway, moving on. Head east when you're ready, (Level 13+) along the northern route of the room. Continue untill you can't go any further, and head south. Once you can't go further, go east. (Terribly exciting, no? I can't tell you how long this place took without directions. Mainly because I'm nosy and look everywhere I can for anything at all.) You should see some water here. Head north with the water to your east, then head east once you can. Head north through the opening in the river to your, well, north, and continue on that merry little path. Once water blocks your way again, head west, south, west then north to escape the evil water.

From here, make your way as far north as possible, then head east untill you meet a strange pink guy. Leveled up any during that journey? I hope so. Level 14-16 should be roughly enough to defeat Pinky there, so if you're at those levels, (I advise 15+) then feel free to attack him.

Krei

Ouch. He can stun! If you use shock, this is less of a problem, because you can too, but still. Don't let your hp drop below 40 or so in this fight, or he'll possibly rip you to shreads. He isn't that hard, really.

Once he's defeated you'll receive the Rotting Wooden Key, and a warp that was behind Pinky is now available. Feel free to use it to warp waaay back to the stairs.

Now, take the stairs leading down near you to enter the next perilous land in our quest.

Jungle Ruins Basement 2

Ah here is a lovely little place. First of all, train here and in many parts of the room to collect items. There. I said it. That wasn't so bad, was it? The only item you'll need for the Nature Wand is:

  • Jungle Pauldrons (I forget how I got this, but I believe its one of the pygmy warrior guys that drops it. I could be wrong. Either way, you'll probably get it before you finish the level.)

Now, let's finish this floor up.Head south untill you reach the crates, then east untill you reach the stairs, north, but instead of choosing the north opening that you see, pick the one to your left. Head north through here and take the first path east that you can. The rest of the path is simple and fairly hard to confuse, so, it probably won't. Follow the guided path untill you see a teleporter.

Alright, this is a teleporter maze right here, yup. Take that first teleporter you see and the only one available to you after that. Head along this route, but don't go west at the first possible chance, wait a half-second and take the next option. Continue along untill you reach another teleporter, and take it. Just go north and west from here, to arrive at Gors hideout.

Gors

Ahhh! I didn't tell you about Gor's hideout, you say? Simply head north. That's all. A gigantic fricken room for no real reason. You will meet Gors the mighty. If you're level 20+ you should be fine. I don't advise any lower.

Gors is a bit tougher that Krei. He can heal. He can stun. He can thwack you with his staff. Try to keep your HP above 65 or so and keep at it. Hopefully your potion inventory is full, yes? It isn't too hard, and before long, the mighty will have fallen.

You'll recieve a Staff of Ni-tas and a Slivered Horn Key. Take the teleporter, and head up the stairs. Head back up to the ground level as well, and take the stairs which are in the northern part of that room up.

Just head south, west, and south past the first opening west, and follow that trail. Soon you shall see Denethir! He will craft a new weapon for you, if you have the items needed. As I've said before, I would choose Nature Staff, as it heals nicely, which can save you potions. Once you've finished with him, head back towards the atairs, and head back to Basement Level 2.

Trust me, that short side quest was worth it. Remember where the stairs down are from before? If not, head south than east, and take them. We are now in the ugly, horrid,

Jungle Ruins Basement Level 3

I really hate this place. Before you make it to the boss on this level, make sure you make it it to level 25. The boss is rather difficult, otherwise. At least there isn't a lot of item-collecting to worry about.

Make your way east, south, then east once you see the dirt floor. From there, head north-west keeping water to your right. Head all the way north, then all the way east, then south. You should be level 22-23 now, because of those annoying lizards. I hate those lizards.

Head as south as possible, (east when you can) Untill you see a big, big lake. Its really really big. The enemies here have upgraded, so try to be level 23-24 around here. Head west, hugging the lake side, and go north into the gray brick area if you must. Before you is Pomanna the NPC, talk to her if you'd like, she'll re-affirm your sanity for you.

From Pomana, take the North (Note the north) east exit of the room and continue north from there. Work your way east and south when the north/south decision point comes. Soon you'll see the lake again, and a clear visable path to take. Follow it untill you reach the gray-bricks, and head south once you're level 25 or so. It is now time.

Rollay Scaleback

I found him really, really easy. After I leveled up. He was hard before that. He's just a leveled up Gors, who can stun longer and heal more. Have fun choking him with his medallion, and take it when you beat him. You also get another key! A Jewelled one, at that. Lovely.

Take the transporter, and head up the stairs alll the way to ground level. You're actually done with the Jungle Ruins at this point, but if you'd like, feel free to head up the tower ((Where you met Denethir) Further now that you have the keys for the doors there. Its pointless, but hey, lots of things are. When you finish with your fun, exit the place, and Congrats! You've finished the most boring of dungeons. All gets better from here.

If you're curious about skills at this point, I had roughly:

  • Shock - 6 6 5 5
  • Spectral - 1 1 1 1

If you read my guides, and are wondering why I say so little about potions, I have quite a good reason! I shall write a seperate guide to potions, as I think they're super funky cool.
